Written by the founder of The Perspectives Network, this identification card helped out in situations where people mistook many of the symptoms of her TBI for intoxication or other similarly expressed conditions (including mental illness since she does become disoriented in certain stressful situation). What started out as a personal tool was made available to other survivors because of the volume of requests she had to share it. It has been carried by survivors in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa. This card has proven very useful in helping explain the major symptoms of a TBI whether just trying to explain it to friends or when interacting with law enforcement officials. It WILL NOT keep law enforcement officials from doing their job .. the card, hopefully, will keep the situation from escalating into something physical unless restraint is necessary for the safety of everyone involved until the proper people can be notified. This is a copy-write protected card. However, we do allow organizations to utilize it AFTER they have entered a specific and binding contract with TPN, Inc. pertaining to itís use and distribution. If you are interested, please contact TPN, Inc. by e-mail or ground mail. You can request a Survivor Identification Card from TPN by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: TPN, Attn: ID Cards, P. O. Box 121012, W. Melbourne FL 32912-1012. An ID Card will be returned in that envelope. Requests not including a SASE will not be filled. |
